Funding and Organization of SCOOP
SCOOP is a nationally funded project. Funded by the Danish Technical Research Council (STVF), SCOOP brings together expertise from university and industry. University is represented by groups from Research Center COM, situated at the Technical University of Denmark. Industry is represented by the Danish semiconductor manufacturer GIGA A/S. The common goal is to develop components for ultra-fast optical signal processing.

Research Organization within SCOOP
The project spans from the study of very basic semiconductor properties all the way to system experiments on final devices.

The more basic work such as basic charaterization, modeling of devices, but also system experiments are performed at Research Center COM. A more detailed description of our research can be found by clicking on "Research" on the menu to the left.

Research Center COM comprises excellent experience within characterization. Our basic characterization group is highly recognized for its work in the area of spectrally and temporally resolved fast spectroscopy on III/V materials. The systems charaterization group is highly renowned for its excellent work on designing and charaterizing devices for optical communication. Finally, the modeling group has extensive experience modeling the carrier dynamics in active waveguides, including short-pulse generation using mode-locked lasers and four-wave mixing in semiconductor optical amplifiers.

The SCOOP staff from Research Center COM is:

Jørn M. Hvam, Professor, Head of SCOOP and of Basic Characterization
Jesper Mørk, Professor, Head of Device Modeling
Leif Katsuo Oxenløwe, Ph.D. student
Kresten Yvind, Ph.D. student
Lin Xu, Ph.D. student

The SCOOP staff from GIGA A/S is:

Jesper Hanberg, fabrication
Thorkild Franck, characterization
